PTSD & trauma treatment programs.
Post-traumatic stress disorder is treatable. Hillside offers residential PTSD treatment for adults, including combat veterans, first responders, and survivors of interpersonal trauma.
Overview
Trauma reshapes the nervous system. Weekly therapy can help, but for many adults, residential care is what finally makes trauma processing possible, because safety, sleep, and steady support are already in place before the deeper work begins.
Who our PTSD program is for
Our residential PTSD program serves adults living with acute and complex trauma, single-incident PTSD, and trauma complicated by substance use, depression, or anxiety. When symptoms are being quieted with drinking or pills, our trauma and substance use program treats both at once, with co-occurring psychiatric care throughout.
- Combat veterans and military service members
- Police, fire, EMS, and healthcare first responders
- Survivors of assault, abuse, and interpersonal violence
- Adults with childhood or developmental trauma
- Trauma with co-occurring substance use
How we treat PTSD
Our trauma-focused clinicians are trained in the modalities with the strongest research base for PTSD, and we sequence care so that stabilization comes before trauma processing.
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
- Prolonged Exposure (PE)
- Somatic and body-based interventions
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills
- Psychiatric medication management
Trauma-informed by design
Every element of our program, the intake process, the environment, the pacing of therapy, is built on the principles of trauma-informed care: choice, collaboration, safety, and trust.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How long is inpatient PTSD treatment?
Most adults in our residential PTSD program stay 30–60 days. Trauma work is paced carefully, length of stay is based on stabilization, therapeutic progress, and aftercare readiness, not a fixed number.
What are the most effective PTSD treatment programs?
The strongest evidence supports trauma-focused therapies including EMDR, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Prolonged Exposure (PE). Hillside integrates all three inside a safe residential setting.
Do you treat PTSD with co-occurring addiction?
Yes. PTSD and substance use frequently co-occur. Our integrated dual-diagnosis model treats trauma and addiction together rather than sequentially.
Is Hillside a good fit for first responders or veterans?
Our program welcomes first responders, veterans, and civilians. Care is trauma-informed, coed, and adult-focused, with peers who understand what you've been through.
